I achieved the lofty achievement of securing my first fellowship, in the form of a  DECRA. Which, not wanting to sound like a big show off, is an incredibly prestigious and competitive fellowship award to researchers up to 5 years post PhD. I scored this bad boy with less than 2 years post PhD experience, putting me in the “slim to none” chance category (about 8%). And I nailed it. This kind of thing doesn’t happen to me normally.

But now it’s dawned on me that I have all this responsibility. I’m a Principle Investigator. I need to write ethics, set up a lab, find some research assistants… oh jeez…
